Academic requirements for athletic eligibility are the same as any other Dowling Catholic sport. Please see the DCHS Student Handbook for academic eligibility information.
Conduct
Athletes are expected to adhere to Dowling Core Values and Respect Code in all club activities. Athletes are considered to be Dowling Catholic students first, and trap club athletes second. Where applicable, we will also adhere to the guidelines in the Athletics Handbook. Consult the Dowling Student Handbook and the Dowling Athletics Handbook for more information.
Hunter Safety Education
In order to satisfy Dowling insurance requirements, student athletes are required to complete a Hunter Safety course. A copy of the completion certificate must be provided during club registration. Proof of Hunter Education Course sign up is acceptable at time of club registration; however, proof of course completion is required before an athlete will be allowed to attend practice.
To learn more about Hunter Safety education, please visit the Iowa DNR website.
Please note that the classroom portion of Hunters safety can be taken online (links available through Iowa DNR website above), but the participant still needs to attend a field day to complete Hunter Safety education and earn a certificate
Other Club Requirements
We will offer a trap shooting orientation class that athletes must attend. This will happen after school in March, before we start spending time on a live range.
"Stop the bleed"/tourniquet use training is highly recommended. Training opportunities will be communicated. Athletes are also encouraged to attain first aid and CPR certifications.
Athletes must score/pull at least once for every five rounds they shoot.
To participate in matches, athletes must have attended a minimum of three (3) practices.
